Mangric, soil – Soil of ocean coasts in the tropical belt formed in the flooded zone, (i.e., in the low lagoons protected from surf) under mangric woods. This soil has no soil profile in the usual sense. It is "a salty sea dirt". The dark color of mangric soils is not only due to the high humus content but also to the intensive formation of metal sulfides and manganese hydroxides. This soil is characterized by extreme acidity (pH 2.5-3.5) as a result of sulfide oxidation.
