Zone, soil – A taxonomic category of the soil-geographical regionalization. The area in which the dominant or zonal soils reflect the zonal influence of climate and vegetation, and form a natural land pattern with other soils that weakly exhibit the zonal influence or do not exhibit it at all. The podzolic soil zone includes, for example, some independent soil types such as podzols, sod-podzolic soils, illuvio-humic-podsolic soils, etc.
